Hey all! I've just signed up for gmail because I can check it via outlook express. Well, I have my cable provider email going via outlook express as well.
Any advice and tech tips on how I can organize and separate the two? I'll be losing my cable email in a few months, because we are moving, but until then...
I'm wondering...
Can I have 2 different sounds for incoming emails?
Can I have separate inboxes for each account?
That's all I can think of for now. Thanks all!
Yes it is possible (and fairly easy) to have multiple accounts in Outlook. I used to have about 5 before I migrated them to Outlook.
What you need to do is go into the account settings and define the settings for each new account you want to use.
Once you have done this, you need to create a subfolder within the Inbox. Finally you must set up an email rule for each account, so that as the mail comes in it is diverted to the appropriate account. If you need more details let me know and I'll try and talk you through it.
I don't think you can set a different sound for each inbox though ...
Hey, thanks for the response. I decided to create 2 identities. So far, I can see how this will work well. The one problem I think I'm going to run into, is this memory issue. I've had an error pop up twice. I never got errors when I had the one account.
Does anyone know, if there is a way to transfer email messages into files and folders to save? Outside of outlook express? Thanks!
yes and yes. You can drag-and-drop messages from one folder to another. The other thing you can do is open a message and then Save As into different formats. I'm not sure what the options are with Express but in Outlook you can save as HTML, template, email and other formats.
You can drag and drop messages between accounts if they're under one identity, but I'm not sure if you can do so with multiple identities.
Have you considered modifying your cable account to change the return address so you can start gettiing people used to your GMail address before you stop using the account?
No, hadn't thought of that. Good idea. I had planned on sending out one of those blanket emails, but maybe your suggestion would work better. smile
